WelcomeTrack achieves its 1st carbon footprint and joins the Climate Act

At WelcomeTrack, we want to adopt a more eco-responsible behavior by monitoring our carbon footprint and implementing concrete actions to reduce our CO2 emissions. It wasn’t always easy to know how to go about it, so we called on Greenly to assist us in this process. As a result, we’ve been able to really understand and analyze our environmental impact, and are now starting to implement actions to improve it.

We’re still in the very early stages, and we’re aware that we still have a long way to go, but we’re going to keep up our efforts to improve this record.

To reduce our ecological footprint, we follow 3 steps:

  • Calculate our carbon footprint in real time.
  • Implement an action plan to minimize our greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Compensate by financing projects aimed at sequestering these emissions. This is a particularly tricky step, as planting trees is not enough. The ultimate goal for us will be to actually reduce our emissions, not offset them. In the meantime, our 2020 emissions have been fully offset by contributing to Portel’s Floresta de Portel project in Brazil.

Here is our 2020 report. This GHG balance sheet has been drawn up according to the methodology of the French Agency for Ecological Transition(ADEME).

This report gives us an overview of our main emissions. At WelcomeTrack, as a SaaS company, our primary source of emissions is, unsurprisingly, our digital activity, notably through the use of servers and web platforms. Our second emission item to watch is the purchase of services from our suppliers and partners. And finally, the third item is the energy used to rent our offices.

What’s more, since last March we’ve joined the Climate Act initiative launched by Shine, a collective of over 250 growing companies making a concrete commitment to limiting their carbon footprint, and campaigning for this approach to be made compulsory for all companies.

Join us on this adventure for even greater impact!
